Re-Creating Old Paintings.

The idea this week was to find old paintings for example a painting by Vincent Van Gogh and recreate them, I found this a really cool idea, I'd seen it done before and I would like to try it for myself. I decided to take some paintings which had been painted during the 17th Century, simply due to the type paint they used which was oil paint, which I think would be interesting to try and recreate using a selection of lights. I picked Dutch and French Painters, I find their paintings really interesting. This painting was painted by a Dutch painter in the 17 century, Painter Unkown, I also recreated it a video because I like to explore things through film.

Exploring The Word To Gaze Through Photography and Film.

My word was to gaze, I chose this word simply because I love the idea of capturing eyes, and uses the camera to portray the eye in different ways , I think I might also might want to make a short film, studying the way the eye moves, due to the fact that sometimes although photography is stunning and it works so well with light, I think a short film will help with exploring the idea of my word, here are some pictures which show elements of the word GAZE.

Cannon Cameras.

Our photography session consisted of us getting familiar with the digital cameras we had been given, 6 digital Cannon's. Firstly, our teacher talked to us about exposure, focus, MF(manual focus) it is where you acquire focus by hand and AF which is where the camera does the focusing it's self. We also touched on depth of field, which is when a photography has to subjects in it or more and one is in focus and the other is not. I thought I was going to have trouble with the digital camera, but I actually liked it and the pictures turned out quite well.

First Steps To Understanding It All.

I had my first sort of pre-lesson for Photography AS, it was pretty cool, I got a clear idea about what I'm going to be studying which are different types of photography, e.g : photo-journalism, cinematography which sounds really exciting especially that I'm studying Film Studies next year and the combination of the two will work really well for me. One of our teachers had a really impressive camera and equipment, and she let us test it, I personally found it quite hard simply due to the reason that I use Film Cameras not digital but it is was a wonderful experience. A part of the lesson was to pick a word from a batch of selected words, my word was GAZE, I thought I picked well.
I love photographing eyes, they are the most beautiful part of human beings. The pictures below are the ones I photographed in class, I thought I approached the idea of to gaze well. I like the first photograph because of the shadow on the 2nd girl.
